Damen Shipyards Singapore’s main activities are the construction and repair of high-speed aluminum vessels. Since joining the Damen Shipyards Group, the yard has been able to expand its knowledge, undertake innovative projects and develop its technical expertise.

A project-driven yard

Because Damen Shipyards Singapore focuses on the construction and repair of high-speed aluminum vessels, its organisation is largely project driven. The project department is central to the organisation, which also has engineering, purchasing, planning, production and quality control departments. All of these departments report to the yard’s project department to ensure the successful execution of contracts. The Damen Shipyards Singapore Field Services department is responsible for the commissioning of new vessels and also warranty/post-delivery support for customers.

Joining the Damen Shipyards Group

In 2000, the Damen Shipyards Group purchased this modern facility from the Kvaerner Group of Norway. The company was renamed Damen Shipyards Singapore and the existing management and workforce were retained, bringing their high skill levels and extensive experience in aluminum vessel building with them. Under the previous ownership, more than 40 high-speed vessels were successfully built and delivered over a 10-year period. Since the Damen takeover, the yard has delivered over 50 aluminum vessels, including fast ferries, crew boats, pilot vessels, patrol vessels and personnel launches.
